Patricia primarily focuses on family and personal law.
Her interest in this field arose because often there is much more at stake than just the legal conflict. Clients are usually going through an emotionally challenging time in their lives, one that deeply affects them. A listening ear is important, but she will never lose sight of the business interests involved.
History
After graduating from Tilburg University, Patricia worked for six years as a senior judicial secretary at the Breda District Court. In 1998, she made the transition to the legal profession, where she quickly specialised in family and personal law. Since 2003, she has exclusively focused on this area of law.
Mediation
Mediation is particularly preferred in divorce cases, especially when children are involved. Outside of legal battles, there are more opportunities to look at the underlying interests of the parties, and more flexible solutions can be found. A settlement that both parties agree on has more support and a longer-lasting effect than one imposed by a judge.
Even if mediation is not an option, Patricia always strives to prevent unnecessary escalation and polarisation in a case. A resolution outside of court is always preferred.
However, sometimes litigation is unavoidable, and she will certainly not shy away from it. Her decisive approach and solid legal knowledge are crucial in such cases.
Besides divorce or the termination of a partnership, Patricia can also assist with issues related to alimony (both spousal and child support), parental authority, visitation and contact arrangements, prenuptial agreements, adoption, paternity matters, and the division of pension rights.
As a divorce attorney, I prefer to be a problem solver, but sometimes strong litigation is necessary. In those cases, I go all in.
